Mañana se cumplen 120 años del nacimiento de Virgil Thomson (25 de noviembre de 1896, Kansas City, Misuri – 30 de septiembre de 1989, Nueva York) fue un compositor y crítico estadounidense.
Entre sus obras se encuentran Óperas… Conciertos y Bandas Sonoras…Entre las Bandas sonoras… cabe destacar :
    La música cinematográfica del documental The Plow That Broke the Plains (1936) y
    La de la película Louisiana Story (1949, ganadora de un Premio Pulitzer).
y entre la öperas:
    Four Saints in Three Acts («Cuatro santos en tres actos»), libreto de Gertrude Stein, 1928.
    The Mother of Us All («La madre de todos nosotros»), libreto de Gertrude Stein, 1947.
    Lord Byron, libreto de Jack Larson, 1966-1968.
Pero hoy me decanto por una hermosa pieza Clásica dedicada a los rios Norte Americanos ..
