Jean Baptiste Lully nació un día como hoy en Florencia, Italia, 28 de noviembre de 1632 – París, 22 de marzo de 1687… fue un compositor, instrumentista y bailarín francés de origen italiano, creador de la ópera francesa que consistía en una compleja puesta en escena que incorporaba ópera con estética francesa, además de ballet y profundos textos literarios a los que bautizó como «Tragedias musicales».
En 1652, con 20 años, entró al servicio de Luis XIV como bailarín de ballet y violinista. Más tarde dirigió una de las orquestas reales y en 1662 fue nombrado director musical de la familia real. Sobresalía por entonces como violinista, director y compositor. A los 29 años se había casado con la hija de Michel Lambert, compositor y alto funcionario de la Corte.
Obtuvo rápidamente la dirección de una nueva orquesta: La Bande des Petits Violons. Perfecto cortesano y hábil hombre de negocios, muy pronto se convirtió en el primer compositor de la corte, y sus aires y ballets consagraron su reputación. Apoyado por Luis XIV, llegó a ser compositor de cámara y finalmente Superintendente de la Música de Su Majestad.
En el año 2009 se estrenó la película… «La Pasión del Rey » de Corbiau que tiene una maravillosa obsesión por la tensa, dramática y decadente belleza del Barroco y esta vez ha puso sus ojos en el Barroco Francés…. Es una excelente película que nos describe la relación de Jean Baptiste Lully, con el dramaturgo francés más celebrado Moliére y el impresionante Luis XIV, popularmente conocido como El Rey Sol.
Jean Baptiste Lully was born this day in Florence, Italy, November 28, 1632 – Paris, March 22, 1687 … was a composer, instrumentalist and Italian-born French dancer, creator of French opera consisting of a complex staging opera incorporating French aesthetics, plus ballet and deep literary texts to which he named «Musical Tragedies».
In 1652, at 20, he entered the service of Louis XIV as a ballet dancer and violinist. Later he directed one of the royal orchestras and in 1662 was appointed music director of the Royal Family. Then excelled as a violinist, conductor and composer. At 29 he married the daughter of Michel Lambert, composer and senior official of the Court.
Quickly gained the leadership of a new orchestra: La Bande des Petits Violons. Perfect courtier and astute businessman, he soon became the first court composer, and his airs and ballets devoted their reputation. Supported by Louis XIV became chamber composer and finally Superintendent of Music of His Majesty.
In 2009 the film was released … «The Passion of the King» in Corbiau that is obsessed with the tense, , dramatic and decadent beauty of the Baroque and this time he laid eyes on the French Baroque.
