Un día como hoy 26 de mayo de 1886 ,en Lituania, nacía Asa Yoelson… más conocido por Al Jolson… fue un cantante, actor, guionista y director de música estadounidense de origen lituano… En el año 1927 tuvo una actuación cinematográfica en The Jazz Singer (El cantante de jazz) cuya trama era muy parecida a su vida real, como hijo de un rabino. Fue la primera película sonora, de allí lo catapultó definitivamente a la fama, lo cual luego interpretaría la versión original en teatro con éxitos rotundos en todo el país y en Europa. Su famosa frase «Un momento, un momento, aún no has escuchado nada!» quedó en los anales de la Historia del Cine… Esta película dirigida por Alan Crosland marcó el advenimiento del cine sonoro. Al Jolson canta en ella varios temas («Mammy», «Toot, toot, tootsie, goodbye», «Dirty hands, dirty face», «Blue Skies», «Mother, I still have you», etc), convirtiéndose en una estrella del séptimo arte, al que regresa poco después interpretando «The Singing Fool» (1928), una cinta dirigida por Lloyd Bacon con la que alcanza una popularidad mayor si cabe que con «The Jazz Singer». En ella interpreta «Sonny Boy», uno de los más grandes éxitos de su historia artística… Hoy en el Día del aniversario de su nacimiento… conviene recordarle ..como uno de los más grandes artistas de comienzo del Siglo XX …

Antón García Abril (Teruel, 19 de mayo de 1933) es un compositor y músico español, autor de bandas sonoras para películas y series de televisión.
Su obra es tan extensa que es imposible hacer una recopilación en un solo video…valga este pequeño resumen de una pequeña parte de su obra..
Ha compuesto obras orquestales, música de cámara y obras vocales. Es importante reseñar su faceta como autor de música para cine y series de televisión como El hombre y la tierra de Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, Los camioneros, Sor Citroën,Fortunata y Jacinta, Anillos de oro, Segunda enseñanza, Brigada Central, Ramón y Cajal, La ciudad no es para mí, Compuesta y sin novio y Requiem por Granada.
En el año 1966 realizó la banda sonora de la película Texas, adiós, un spaghetti western protagonizado por Franco Nero. En el año 1969 trabajó junto al cineasta madrileño Rafael Romero Marchent en la banda sonora de la película Manos torpes, otro spaghetti western.
Dentro de la música para voz y piano destacan sus canciones llevadas al disco de forma magistral por Ainhoa Arteta.
Compuso el himno de Aragón por encargo de las Cortes de Aragón, y que es actualmente el himno oficial de Aragón desde 1989.
Su obra concertística, de carácter eminentemente sinfónico, pretende continuar la tradición nacionalista española con los adelantos vanguardistas del momento.

He has composed orchestral works, chamber music and vocal works. It is important to review his role as author of music for movies and television series such as The Man and the Land of Felix Rodriguez de la Fuente, The Truckers, Sor Citroën, Fortunata and Jacinta, Gold Rings, Second Class, Central Brigade, Ramón and Cajal, The city is not for me, Composed and without boyfriend and Requiem for Granada.
