RANDY EDELMAN

Uno de los grandes compositores de nuestro tiempo es sin lugar a dudas  Randy Edelman…..

Su aventura músical comienza con uno de esos temas que da la casualidad ya he compartido a lo largo de mis Blogs……Lo comparti con aquella excelente versión que hicieran Unit 4 +2… en mi Blog de música de los 50’s, 60′ s y 70’s….tambien teneis incluida la excelente versión de Eddie Rambeau….y ahora como avance del  recorrido por su trayectoria  como compositor de Bandas sonoras …que le vamos a dedicar a Randy ….vamos a escucharle en sus comienzos con este tema ….»Concrete And Clay»

Edelman was born in Paterson, New Jersey, the son of a first-grade teacher and an accountant.^[1] He attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music before heading to New York where he played piano in Broadway pit orchestras. He produced several solo albums of songs (some of which were later recorded by The Carpenters («I Can’t Make Music,» «Piano Picker,» and «You»), Barry Manilow («Weekend in New England»), «If Love Is Real» from Olivia Newton-John‘s Olivia Newton-John and others) before moving to Los Angeles. It was there where Edelman started to work in TV and film scoring.

Musical scores

One of his first film scores was for the 1973 movie Executive Action which put forward an additional version of some theories concerning the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy in 1963. In the mid 1980s, Edelman wrote the theme to, and scored many episodes of MacGyver, a popular television series starring Richard Dean Anderson.

During the 1980s and early 1990s he also collaborated with Ivan Reitman, producing scores for several of his comedies, including Ghostbusters II, Twins, Angels in the Outfield, Beethoven, Kindergarten Cop, The Mask and Daylight.

Randy Edelman was honored with the prestigious Richard Kirk award at the 2003 BMI Film and TV Awards. The award is given annually to a composer who has made significant contributions to film and television music.^[2]

He recently produced the scores for the 2008 film The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

Scores reused elsewhere

While some of the films scored by Edelman were not commercial successes, the music was often reused elsewhere. Themes he wrote for Dragonheart, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (particularly the movie’s love theme Bruce and Linda), Gettysburg and other films have been widely used in TV advertising, film trailers, countless Disney movies, and during the Academy Awards. In particular, the rousing yet heartwarming theme of Dragon, featured in «The Premiere Of THE BIG BOSS», and «The Dragon’s Heartbeat» have become synonymous with tear-jerking films of bittersweet yet triumphant rises to glory, featuring prominently in trailers of films like Patch Adams, The Truman Show, In Love and War and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone film. Themes from his score for Come See The Paradise have been used in film trailers more than cues from any other film soundtrack.^[3][4]NBC Sports

His music from The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. is featured during NBC‘s Olympic Games coverage when announcing upcoming events. In addition, it was used during NBC’s coverage of the 1997 World Series. At the end of the 1996 Summer Olympics, it used the closing music of Gettysburg. In the 1990s, Edelman composed the popular theme music for NBC’s NFL telecasts.^[5]

Mark McKenzie, famoso compositor de Hollywood, comparte su fe en el Dios que le guió a la música

Mark McKenzie es un reconocido músico y compositor musical. Basta recordar su dirección musical de famosas películas como » Spiderman», «Misión imposible», “Men in black” y «Bailando con lobos». McKenzie es miembro de la megaiglesia de la Catedral de Cristal ubicada en Garden Grove, California.

El nombre de McKenzie es muy conocido en la Academia de los oscars por las nominaciones recibidas por sus películas Dances with Wolves, Spiderman, Mission Impossible, Men in Black, Sister Act, Lilo and Stich, Sleepless in Seattle y God Will Hunting. Sus composiciones y orquestaciones han sido escuchadas por millones de personas alrededor del mundo, desde las Olimpiadas hastalos premios de la Academia.

McKenzie asegura que el propósito de la música en las películas es realmente el de crear emociones.

RACHEL PORTMAN

Rachel Mary Berkeley Portman (Haslemere, Surrey, 11 de diciembre de 1960) es una compositora británica, conocida principalmente por su trabajo en cine. Fue la primera mujer en ganar un Premio Óscar en la categoría «Mejor banda sonora» (por Emma en 1996).
Hija de Penelope Mowat y Berkeley Charles Portman, es madre de tres niños, Anna, Giulia y Niky. Estudió en Charterhouse School y Worcester College, Oxford.

Portman fue nominada al Premio Óscar por sus producciones para Las normas de la casa de la sidra en 1999 y Chocolat en 2000. También compuso las bandas sonoras de docenas de otros filmes, entre los que se destacan: Benny & Joon (1993), Ethan Frome (1993), Only you (1994), Smoke (1995), Marvin’s room (1996), Adictos al amor (1997), La Bella y la Bestia 2La verdad sobre Charlie (2002), Hart’s War (2002), La sonrisa de Mona Lisa (2003), La mancha humana (2003), El mensajero del miedo (2004), Oliver Twist (2005), Infamous (2006), La casa del lago (2006) y la inusual banda sonora de Dangerous Beauty (1998), entre muchos otros.
