Film Symphony Orchestra.. nos deleito a todas las personas que estabamos en el recinto con uno de los mejores conciertos que he tenido la oportunidad de escuchar…Realmente emocionante….. sonaron… Bernard Herrmann….Jerome Moross…James Horner … James Newton Howard… Maurice Jarre…. John Williams… y un largo etc….Aunque quizás…. para mí personalmente… uno de los momento más emotivos…. es cuando todos silbamos La Marcha sobre El Rio Kwai del gran Sir Malcolm Arnold ..

Maurice Jarre , nació un día como hoy en Lyon, Francia un 13 de septiembre de 1924.
En 1952 se convirtió rápidamente en un compositor popular y respetado en Francia y el continente europeo gracias a su primera banda sonora para película Hôtel des Invalides.
El reconocimiento mundial le vino una década más tarde, cuando fue contratado para componer la banda sonora de la épica Lawrence de Arabia (1962), de David Lean, con la que ganó un Óscar a la mejor banda sonora original y que se convertiría en uno de los temas de cine más reconocidos de todos los tiempos. De su colaboración con Lean también surgirían obras como las bandas sonoras de Doctor Zhivago (1965) y Pasaje a la India (1984) (que le reportaron dos Óscar más en la misma categoría), así como La hija de Ryan (1970).
Entre sus bandas sonoras para otros filmes destacan El día más largo (1962), Los profesionales (1966), Grand Prix (1966), Topaz (1969), El juez de la horca (1972), El hombre que pudo reinar (1975), El Mensaje (1976), Jesús de Nazareth, Witness (1985), La costa de los mosquitos (1986), Atracción fatal (1987), Gorilas en la niebla (1988), El club de los poetas muertos (Dead Poets Society) (1989), Ghost (1990) y Un paseo por las nubes (1995).
En 2003 anunció su retirada definitiva de la composición musical para el cine.
Maurice Jarre, born this day in Lyon, France, a September 13, 1924.
In 1952 he quickly became a popular composer and respected in France and Europe thanks to his first movie soundtrack for Hôtel des Invalide
Worldwide recognition came a decade later, when he was hired to compose the soundtrack of Lawrence epic of Arabia (1962), David Lean, with which he won an Oscar for best original score and become one of the most recognized of all time movie themes. In collaboration with Lean works also emerge as soundtracks Doctor Zhivago (1965) and A Passage to India (1984) (that earned two Oscar in the same category) and Ryan’s Daughter (1970).
Among his other film soundtracks for bands include The Longest Day (1962), The Professionals (1966), Grand Prix (1966), Topaz (1969), The Judge Roy Bean (1972), The Man Who Would Be King (1975) , The Message (1976), Jesus of Nazareth, Witness (1985), The Mosquito Coast (1986) Fatal Attraction (1987), Gorillas in the Mist (1988), Club Dead poets (Dead Poets Society) (1989), Ghost (1990) and A Walk in the Clouds (1995).
In 2003 he announced his retirement from the music composition for film.
